Jila Baniyaghoob and other Journalists Must Be Release

Jila Baniyaghoob

Jila Baniyaghoob, Iranian journalist and Editor in-Chief of the web site of “Kanoon e Zanan e Irani” (Iranian Women’s Society) who had worked in those news papers which had to close down, one after each other, Sun day evening after summons and several warnings, went to “Evin Prison” to suffer her verdict of one year imprisonment.

“Administrating of the Verdicts” also by sending written notices to Shiva Nazarahari and Reyhaneh Tabatabei, another female Journalists, Civic activists and weblog writers, has asked them to introduce themselves to the authority for execution of the Verdicts in Evin Prison.

The Islamic Revolutionary Court had sentenced Jila Baniyaghoob to one year imprisonment and 30 years of deprivation of journalism, Shiva Nazarahari to 4 years imprisonment and 74 strike of flog, and Reyhaneh Tabataei to 5 months imprisonment. All of these journalists and civic activists were detained immediately after “Presidency Election Show in 2009” and their main accusations were their opinions and criticisms about the current unpleasant situation in Iran.

At present,  many journalists, media activists and weblog writers are in prison, Who are in worrying situation; and often they are deprived from common visits, telephone contacts, even from receiving medicine or access for treatment.

Bahman Ahmadi Amouee, who has been detained in 2009, and sentenced to 5 years imprisonment, recently after suffering of keeping in cell, has been exiled to “Rajaei Shahr” prison. In this prison a few other journalists including Ahmad Zeidabadi are passing their imprisonment periods.

“The committee for Freedom of Expression & Iran’s Media Watch” is condemning the enforcement of suppression of journalists, specially female journalists; and demands from all international organizations to increase their objections against systematic & increasingly suppression in Islamic Republic, which has a defamed record for 33 years.

We are asking the international organizations including UNESCO and Union of the Radios & Televisions to expel representatives of Islamic Republic; as a response to obvious breach of Freedom of Expression in Iran.
